What you miss

What you miss when you look if you are not quick enough, are the forecasts. Analysis charts may be kept for centuries, because that is people do. They collect things that might be important.* And analysis charts represent the pinnacle of achievement in any 6 hour interval and how many of those there are in a lifetime.

Who would consider keeping a bunch of forecasts?
But it is the forecast that the discerning thaumaturge needs to see. Consider:

This is the chart for the last spell I forecast, where I said to look out for the 25th of November.

But the run from midnight this morning shows that the forecast has changed. Actually seeing it occur rather than reading about it afterwards makes a subtle difference. It give an immediacy that is full of life.

Not so clear-cut now, is it?

And this is  the end of it -what you wasted your life to see. But how do you define waste?
Waste is becoming an archivist in an important agency like the Met Office.
And then finding your work has been ruined by Professor Philip Jones and Dr Michael Mann. Everything they have caused others to do since 1980 has wrecked the honourable traditions of all the honest men that ever climbed a weather station in a blizzard to take a reading.

Ever since Margaret Thatcher all the files from the 1980's on through today and tomorrow, will be suspect and spend eternity telling lies to all the meteorologists that ever use them. The weather stations have been rigged or badly sited an who on earth can reset them?
