Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving and revolving at nine hundred miles an hour, that's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned, a sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see are moving at a million miles a day in an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour, of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'.
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars. It's a hundred thousand light years side to side. It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick, but out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide. We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point. We go 'round every two hundred million years, and our galaxy is only one of millions of billions in this amazing and expanding universe.
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding in all of the directions it can whiz, as fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know, twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure, how amazingly unlikely is your birth, and pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space, 'cause there's bugger-all down here on Earth!
The chances of tossing a coin and getting it to land head or tail is 50:50, no matter how many times you make the toss.
But the chances of breaking even are not 50:50 after one or an hundred and one times because each time you toss it, the thing could land either way.
Even so, the statistical chance of you calling the toss correctly -no matter how often you make the call ARE 50:50.
The chances of getting the weather right is not much better when you are a climatologist. The reason for that is that climatology relies on statistics. An educated chump in a meteorological office these days uses powerful computations and refined data as well as analysis of recent events.
Such fake wise men know about the permutations that air masses tend to follow. They have known these things back in the days of the first computers, between "the wars".
Even FitzRoy knew the weather follows a wave. Following Richardson they worked out what Rossby waves did and then analysed the Southern Oscillation even surmised there is a Northern Oscillation too.
But conventional wisdom is no nearer guessing the cause of it all than you are nor a child who has just been born does. The experts won't be told and they are not looking. If you have your wits about you, you will have experienced the idiocies of fake news and had your eyes opened -perhaps recently.
Hopefully, too recently to have become jaded or radicalised into a political sect or religious following that caters for souls who prefer ignorance and emotion to reason and logic. Make no mistake you are perched on a sliding slope. And risk disappearing into you own digestive tract or worse -some other bugger's.
Do I have the answers?
No of course not. I do know some things. What I know mostly is that something is wrong. And I know who to go to to complain about it.
[I can't recall how it came up but it did come up that I said to a bunch of confirmed non believers and eviloceanists that the only way to find out if there is a god is to ask him. If he won't tell you, then he does not exist (either that or he doesn't care so we might be better off without him) OR he will open your eyes and you will see the great light like he opened mine.
Someone was sending me helpful information concerning all the nastiness that his friends and he blamed President Trump for. I have not heard anything from him since The Crossing of the Rubicon.
A neighbour who ordered me not to preach to him yet he kept sending me tracts from Veterans for Peace with a lot of anti-Trump sentiment and I am a Trump fan, what was I supposed to do?
The Rubicon: is the the good news we have been hoping for about the effort to Drain the Swamp. It refers to a River in a Province of Rome that No Standing Army should cross but Julius Caesar in order to demand the Senate act honourably and support his victorious troops took them all across.
The Senate by order had no standing Army it could call to stop him and Julius Caesar became Pontifex Maximus. After the extravagances of Caligula they tried to remove the Caesarian Dynasty and the Roman Armies rioted -or something like that, bear in mind they had fake news then too; Caesar was famous for it.
Czjd happens especially when one has one's head up one's backside and there is no helping one. Too bad if you are missing out on so much. But it can't be helped that you can't be helped.
You are like the people who I am warning about this pending earthquake. There is no more to be done than to offer help when the pieces fall. Pray (if you can) that you difficulties do not take place on a Sabbath day.
That being the only advice a much wiser man than me was able to give, I am not able to do better not even 2000 thousand years later.
What am I to say?
Jesus gave this advice fully aware that he would not be heeded, for obviously such things occurring in one place after another would be occurring for both people; those who would be taking the advice and those not listening for one or two reasons.
After all, I am not yet able to predict where or even when these things occur with any certainty more than a day or two beforehand. (A reasonable demand of anyone claiming to produce miracles.) If one gets problems with a volcano we all get problems with a volcano. It is sad but is statistically impossible to be there, for everyone but some of us will be watching out for these things.
For instance I have been too busy over the last few days to catch the news that there had indeed been a large earthquake and judging by the weather and the tele-connections on the charts of the North Atlantic a serious eruption too. As there will be again on Sunday night with another large earthquake or swarm and a "statistically likely" eruption on Tuesday. That's if the statisticians have got their dates correct:
And sadly I am not really a rainy day person with the help required for picking up the pieces.
Someone will be there for you when you wake up if you wake up. If not, then you may as well perish. It is pointless looking to the right or to the left when the way of the salvation is straight ahead. If you can grasp my meaning. Which unfortunately, at the moment you can't and won't; you await fate.
I hope you make it.
(I sent this message to the writing group I am part of full of faith this was bound to happen as anyone there will attest to I am sure, if asked. Not expecting, nor demanding, any one to believe me.) This impending earthquake happening by the time you are reading this if I am correct. If not, no matter, I have a ready excuse. That the device causing it has been switched off.)
This finality I spoke of is not death. I just wanted to clear that up.
President Trump is doing all he can to limit casualties to the wicked. How much more secure do you imagine we will be with the god of love and the typical human he wants us to be in the idealise archetype, sacrificed to balance the books for us.
The death we are facing is the inability to get into god's grace while there is time. Consider how sick you will feel if you find out that people believing these things are already experiencing wonderful things that can be had by all.
Until we make that leap of faith we will be dead to him.
Such death is the sickening dread people are already experiencing from all sorts of things.
The only ill at ease I feel from this supernatural stuff (apart from the effects it has on me physically) is a trace of guilt that I might have been more strident but I tried shouting and swearing at fools for years, to no useful effect Jesus said:
“Let the dead bury the dead.”
Imagine how the man he said that to, felt for the rest of his life: That he had squandered such an opportunity.
