Some decide they wish to keep hearing lies. They are the sort in Noah's day who went about business as usual.

Although John's report suggests more melting of the Arctic sea ice cap, these two charts show nothing to get excited about.

We do indeed. We have an acknowledged expert telling us he used to do the ice for the Met Office or some such place.
I see that the ice build up in Antarctica was comprehensive through [2011 up to 2015 edited]. Do you suppose the Larsen Ice-field has suffered as a function of over-abundance or are you going to stick with the pack?
There is a large crack in the sea ice that is known as calving that is going to be producing an herd of icebergs the size of islands in the Caribbean. Such a phenomenon is a regular groth cycle, as ice flows flow, down south.
When large amounts of ice forms it tends to drop the temperature to the bottom of the sea, being cold, dense brine. Right?
What the first post should have made clear, is that a close-up in the surface cover actually indicates storms, not heating. But I am not the only one for whom maths poses difficulty apparently.
These so called experts dwell on a single aspect: Area not actual quantity.
Without putting a storm archive on the graph page for cross-reference, it ends up becoming nonsense. So one has to ask the question: "What are the experts thinking?" or even: "Are the experts thinking?" to be honest I quit posting [t]here because it became obvious that none of the f*cking experts were thinking and I didn't want to be associated with such losers, never mind their insistence on ignoring the finest forecaster on the planet.
[Or at least, the only one I am sure is asking for extra terrestrial help.]
I dare say I have hurt some of them but while they have their heads in the clouds they might have been [productively] looking at sea surface pressures.
The puzzle now clarifies about ice build-up during volcanic periods.
If they are honest with themselves they will pull the data apart and realise that the sea ice has built up to its natural limit and when the conditions changed, the huge raft had begun to shatter.
In continental weather patterns in the northern hemisphere the ice break up generally cracks in the spring in some places with an huge report, I have read, sounds like a quarry blast.
I believe this happens every spring following a cold winter. I have no personal experience with it. But there are videos online showing glaciers calving regular as the seasons.
I prefer to use the Antarctic charts tp sjow the behaviour of volcanoes. I can't recall when they stopped signalling large earthquakes in preference to volcanic eruptions. But if god grants me a few more decades we should see. If not: You are on your own.
For thousands of years we have known (as a species) that this is all a part of the climate of colder lands that has existed since Noah's day. (Correct me if I am wrong.)
I promised to put in two halfpence worth when they had had time to reconsider. If they fail to do so I am tempted to show them the whale of our time:
This is the statistical average going back as long as we have accuate~ish records for. Bear in mind they have been compiled by one set of experts. I don't know how honest they are:
1978 to 1989 (The Thatcher era.)
June is mid-winter in the southern hemisphere. September is the greatest extent of the Arctic Sea Ice. All extents fall below the Two Decade average
1990 to 2000 (The Interdecadal era)
Four of these years produced more ice than average (not shown) the rest are close to the average. (the problem some of us have with statistics is that we are easily confused with too much data.) There is nothing to prevent you from calling up the rest of them form the link given. Or if you are a purist as opposed to the flowerpots in charge of this stuff; you can get satellite pictures.
2000 to 2016 (Stoopid to Funny era)
The two greatest comedians to hold office as Presidunce and President of the USA (not counting the one who pardoned Nixon. Yes I know I should keep out of politics... just saying...) It was during this epoch that we finally woke up to the Fake News.
Oops:
I haven't bothered looking at the ice extent for the southern hemisphere's summer-time. But there is nothing stopping you is there?
Boring, I know but here is the catch:
See for yourself, there was a phase in the Larsen Ice Field, following X years of growth, that the ice field remained at the statistical average (there is a base line on the chart that remains after you clear the field. So a layer of honesty is presented with the data.)
I left the group in disgust because the experts failed to point this out to the gullible.
Such people will be left to fend for themselves when the Four Horsemen pass through the land.
First comes truth, then come decision-time. Then comes the result of believing the lies. This is the product of the four horsemen. Their agency is not particularly evil:
They do not harm the oil or the wine.
There is another agency that may be the same one that appears to explain it another way: Appolyon, this is the website of Jehovah's Witnesses and is substantially what I believe, except that they do not claim the locusts are one and the same people.
Neither of these agencies has a king especially the one said to have a king. Always concern yourself with anomalies in the Bible as in geo-physics!
The King of the Christians is Jesus (as was) and he showed us the degree of tolerance he is willing to accept from all people: All nations and tribes and tongues</a>
They are let loose by a king who may or may not be a gooody. The agencies are or are not fake news. Think for yourself is the lesson that all this stuff is about. Think for yourselves and THINK NOW!
Beware the leaven of the Pharisees those who live by the sword will have to fend for themselves:
The Larsen Ice Shelf is situated along the north-eastern coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, one of the fastest-warming places on the planet. In the past three decades, two large sections of the ice shelf (Larsen A and B) have collapsed. A third section (Larsen C) seems like it may be on a similar trajectory, with a new iceberg poised to break away soon.
The collapse of Larsen B has revealed a thriving chemotrophic ecosystem 800 m (half a mile) below the sea. The discovery was accidental. U.S. Antarctic Program scientists were in the north-western Weddell Sea investigating the sediment record in a deep glacial trough twice the size of Texas. Methane and hydrogen sulfide associated with cold seeps is suspected as the source of the chemical energy powering the ecosystem. The area had been protected by the overlying ice sheet from debris and sediment which was seen to be building up on the white microbial mats after the breakup of the ice sheet. The clams were observed clustered about the vents.[5]Maybe the locusts are clams.
