The Moon's a Balloon
Just after WW2 we sent a British Officer to America to document the modern world. He wrote a series of biographies explaining it for us. An English gentleman ambassador to replace the previous one from the 1930's and to bring us into the modern era.
He did quite well but supposing he had taken with him a bicycle powered time machine and instead of the replacement, turned back the British Empire to show us what could happen to Britain's Green Fields with enlightened colonialism:
